Land and Water Revisited
Land and Water Revisited, is an Emmy-nominated documentary filmed in Mexico’s Teotihuacán Valley in 2018–19. It is an ambitious recreation of the anthropological classic Land and Water (1962)—reframing many of the scenes in the original film to showcase environmental changes wrought by unchecked urban development and global climate change.
The 1962 film was remastered and translated/narrated in Spanish and screened in communities throughout the valley. These were often emotionally powerful moments as people recognized family members that had long since passed. In many ways, this project is still ongoing due to the continued support and dedication from our colleagues in the valley.
Nominated for an Emmy for Best Documentary by the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences
Winner Best Feature Film of the Americas at the Quetzalcoatl Indigenous International Film Festival
Official Selection at the Documentaries Without Borders International Film Festival
